Casa Matsiguenka Lodge

Located at the right side of the watershed of Manu River, exactly in the heart of one of the wildest, most biodiverse places on Earth! near to one of the biggest lake in Manu National Park (Lago Salvador).

Casa Matsigenka is an ecotourism initiative that was set up in the 1990s by the two main, Tayakome and Yomibato communities, along with support from a German-based NGO. The lodge was par of a pilot project on community-based ecotourism in the Peruvian Amazon concerned with how biodiversity conservation and generation of income for local residents may be simultaneously achieved.

The name of (Matsigenka House) is an accurate description because the bungalows are modeled after lodging used by local people. In addition to providing guests with an authentic, comfortable place to stay, this community owned lodge is also an excellent base for exploring the fabled Amazonian rainforests and wildlife of Manu National Park, including Cocha Salvador, an oxbow lake that has been featured in more than one wildlife documentary.
